Rainbows are a magical phenomena that are created when light is reflected, refracted, and dispersed through airborne water droplets, which is why they are often seen after a rainstorm. For this reason, many people associate rainbows with hope, positivity, a new beginning, and peace. Since 1978, when the first rainbow flag was flown at the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day Parade, the rainbow has become an internationally recognized LGBTQ+ symbol. It is a powerful symbol of dignity, visibility, and equality, representing the full spectrum of the LGBTQ+ community.
